With the recent shift to 1 free query a day of the seomoz pagestrength tool unless you pay the monthly fee, webmasters are looking for a new tool to gauge the strengths of a backlink from sites they are thinking of getting links from. One tool I came across recently is a backlink stat tool from directorydump web directory. This a free tool that checks not only backlinks and indexed pages from the major search engines but also gives you the:
Current Page Rank
Alexa information
Social Bookmarking Information for sites such as delicious & furl
Technorati information
Wikipedia info
.EDU and .GOV backlinks
Business.com & DMOZ listed information
With that much information you should be able to deduct if it is worth getting a backlink from any site you are checking.

For those who do not wish to pay a monthly usage fee Wordtracker offers this free keyword suggestion tool! You can even add it to your browser. Whilst it does not have the same function as the commercial tool it does a reasonable job and anyone on a tight budget should add it to their SEO Toolbox.

Found this nice tool today that predicts future pagerank. Ok so they may not be that accurate but its always good to see that your SEO efforts are making gains in PR. What I like about this tool is the incorporation of domain age, some of your website’s competition, whether your site is DMOZ listed, website speed, Alexa ranking and of course your predicted pagerank. Very cool, you can see it here: http://www.iwebtool.com/www.yourdomain.com
