When does it make sense to pay someone to submit your site to directories?

I can sort of understand why one would pay for submissions to search engines, but is it worthwhile to pay for directory submissions?

I also wonder about that. I think, if it is worth to submit your website to directories, it's not that time consuming to submit it yourself. Moreover, there are some website who get your website submitted to many directories for free.

I'd stick with doing directory and search engine submissions for free.

Large corporations need people to handle this, and can afford the expense, but the individual entrepreneur should save as much money as possible.

yes it is worthful to pay for directory services. you need to choose the right company so that it could help you improve your page rank.

Worthwhile if the submission service mixes up the descriptions of your site so all aquired directory links don't have the same descriptions. Most submission services will ask for 3-4 different descriptions, make sure you supply that many and possibly more.

Great discussion, ive thought about it a few times regarding paying someone for submitting my sites to social networking and directory sites. But as someone has allready pointed out it is better if they had 3 or 4 different descriptions or titles of your site.

Now regarding submitting to free directories i would personally recommend you submit yourself. But only when you have a quality website. Paid directories i would look at directoryrate or directorysnob and check the pr caption and submit to the higher pr links first.

Ps, just remmeber that these companies will only submit your site and the listings arent guaranteed. When im at work i have lots of time on my hands so i submit my sites to lots of directories and social sites. And ive had two directories refuse my site. JUST remmeber that if you decide to pay someone.

No, not really. If you have the time you can do it yourself for free. You can choose which free directories to submit to and you can submit different anchor texts and unique descriptions which would be much better.
