I haven't yet submitted a site into the Yahoo! directory, but I've heard nothing but good things from those that have.

There's an interesting article here that discusses the ups and downs of the directory. I'd say if you have the money to blow, definitely go for it.

Not a bad read and I can see both sides of the coin. PR or no pr is really irrelevant, what I would like to see are some cold hard facts that $299/yr gets some traffic.

I think the only advantage of having a decent PR is that it becomes a strong selling point for your site. For some reason people do believe it has some kind of importance, so selling advertising on a site with PR5 would be a piece of cake. Or, consider this situation...

A) Bob is selling his fishing site. He says that the site receives 2000 visitors a day and has traffic stats to prove it. The site is a PR2.

B) Fred is also selling his fishing site. He also says that the site receives 2000 visitors a day and has traffic stats to prove it. The site is a PR5.

What site is likely to sell for the most money?

My sites not yet added to the Y directory although $299 is a little expensive its all so pretty decent as your site will be placed higher in the yahoo search engine also its good for SEO anyway, if you download the SEO plug in for FireFox one of the things it tells you is if a site is listed in Y directory or not. For $299 you could get featured listings in Aviva directory, Alive directory and Site-sift

Wich i would certainly prefer myself although a Y directory listing would be good. Also Business.com directory that's expensive but known by search engines as a reputable site, being included in there will give your site a good reputation and appear well in SERPS
